San Antonio Police Release Video of Officer Shooting Chase Deckard-Thomas Armed with a Knife

Chase Deckard-Thomas was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Peace Officer. No officers or bystanders were injured.

Consistent with our Critical Incident Video Release Procedure, SAPD is releasing a video from the Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on February 15, 2025, at the 100 block of N. Josephine Tobin Drive.

Below is a brief synopsis of the critical incident:

Around 12:30 p.m., A Park Police Officer was dispatched to Woodlawn Lake for a major accident. A vehicle drove erratically through the walking trail and crashed into the lake. As the officer approached the vehicle to check on the driver, the suspect exited the vehicle armed with a knife. The suspect pointed the knife at the officer as he walked towards her. The Park Police Officer repeatedly issued commands for the suspect to drop the knife. However, the suspect ignored her commands and continued walking towards the officer with the knife. The officer fired several rounds, striking the suspect. Life-saving measures were performed on the 30-year-old suspect, Chase Deckard-Thomas (SID: 1075416). He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Peace Officer. No officers or bystanders were injured.

As with all officer-involved shootings, the District Attorney’s Office is reviewing this incident.
