San Jose Police Release Video From Police Shooting Ricardo Villareal

Suspect Ricardo Villareal was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

A suspect, later identified as Ricardo Villareal, was hospitalized after a police-involved shooting on Sunday afternoon, according to the San Jose Police Department. Officers responded to a call around 4:11 p.m. reporting a man “actively firing a firearm” on the 2700 block of Kollmar Drive.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Ricardo Villareal, was shot by police. No officers were injured in the incident. The suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene.

Villareal is currently in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The SJPD has asked the public to avoid the area, as the scene will remain active for several hours. The shooting occurred near Ryan STEAM Academy, an elementary school located in East San Jose.
