Man arrested after dismembered, burned remains of missing Stockton woman found in Modesto home.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office has identified human remains that were found dismembered and burned in a Modesto backyard in November 2022. DNA evidence revealed the remains are of 25-year-old Stockton resident Stephanie Fagundes, who had gone missing in October, the sheriff’s office said. Modesto resident Albert Jr. Gonzales, 41, is charged in connection with her murder. Sgt. Veronica Esquivel with the sheriff’s office said the investigation started in November with a search warrant at Gonzales’ Modesto home for a separate case, where he had allegedly assaulted a woman with a firearm.
