Stockton Police Arrest Third Suspect in Murder of Boivae Martinez Jr.

Detectives say that the Boivae Martinez Jr murder remains an ongoing investigation.

Stockton Police Department NEWS: Homicide Arrests

On April 6, 2024, at approximately 12:42 a.m., Officers responded to the area of Wood Duck Circle/Quail Lakes Drive on a report of a solo vehicle collision. Officers arrived on scene and located a vehicle on the median and a male victim, in his 20s, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

Homicide detectives were notified and responded to the scene to take over the investigation.

Arrest Update May 6, 2024

Stockton Police Detectives have continued to work diligently and conduct follow-up on this case since the homicide occurred. An arrest warrant was issued for Jadari Benson, 18, in connection to the homicide. On May 6, 2024, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop and detained Benson, without incident, for the arrest warrant. Detectives arrested Benson in connection to the homicide and booked him into the San Joaquin County Jail for homicide.

Arrest Update May 28, 2024

Detectives have continued to work on this case since the homicide occurred. A warrant was issued for Rafael Galvan, 18, in connection to the homicide. On Friday, May 24, 2024, Galvan was arrested by the Long Beach Police Department for his warrant. Today, he was transported and interviewed by SPD detectives. Galvan was subsequently arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for homicide.

Arrest Update June 26, 2024

Stockton police detectives identified 19-year-old Sir James Roots as a third suspect in the homicide and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On June 26, 2024, Roots committed two robberies and was taken into custody by Officers shortly after. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for the robberies and the arrest warrant related to the homicide.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
