During a Friday evening news conference, the Two Rivers Police Department confirmed that skeletal remains found on September 7th have been identified as those of Elijah Vue.
Vue’s remains were discovered on private property by a landowner preparing for hunting season. The area, dense with thick woods and heavy underbrush, was not part of the nearby Manitou Girl Scout Camp, but located approximately three miles northwest of where Vue was initially reported missing. Authorities had searched the vicinity multiple times before.
After the remains were found, they were sent to the Wisconsin Crime Lab for DNA testing, which ultimately confirmed the identity of Elijah Vue.
Vue, who was three years old when he went missing on February 20, was last seen in the 3900 block of Mishicot Road in Two Rivers by Jesse Vang, the boyfriend of Vue’s mother, Katrina Baur.
Both Vang and Baur have been formally charged in Wisconsin Circuit Court. Vang is facing one count of chronic neglect of a child as a party to a crime. Baur has been charged with one count of chronic neglect of a child as a party to a crime, along with two counts of resisting or obstructing an officer and one count of child neglect. With Vue’s death now confirmed, additional charges against Baur and Vang may be forthcoming.
