2 Tremonton-Garland Police Officers Killed and Deputy Wounded in Ambush

Responding backup police officers and deputies from surrounding agencies took the suspect into custody.

Two officers with the Tremonton-Garland Police Department were killed when a suspect opened fire as they responded to a domestic violence call. A Box Elder County Sheriff’s deputy and his police K-9 were also wounded in the attack.

UPDATE: Officer Eric Estrada and Sergeant Lee Sorensen of the Tremonton-Garland Police Department both tragically lost their lives in the line of duty when responding to a domestic disturbance in Tremonton on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025.

Responding backup police officers and deputies from surrounding agencies took the suspect into custody.
