Authorities in Anaheim have arrested Joseph Michael Sanders following a distressing incident where a small dog was kicked and beaten, an act captured on video.
Joseph Michael Sanders, 35, was taken into custody by patrol officers around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, following the issuance of an arrest warrant in connection with the animal cruelty case, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
Expressing gratitude to the public for their assistance in identifying Sanders, the agency confirmed ongoing efforts to locate the dog involved in the incident.
Surveillance footage captured the disturbing event, showing a man walking near Brookhurst Street and La Palma Avenue around 8 a.m. on April 7. In the video, he is seen carrying what appears to be a small dog, possibly a puppy, in his arms. Suddenly, the man kicks the dog out of the camera’s view.

Anaheim PD Patrol Officers arrested Sanders on 4/18/2024 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sanders was booked into the Anaheim PD Detention Facility for a felony arrest warrant stemming from the incident that occurred on 4/7/2024.
Detectives are still searching for the dog shown in the video and are asking for the public’s assistance with locating him/her.
