‘AMBUSHED’ | Lake County, Florida deputies shot, one killed, in a shootout, sheriff says.
Lake County Peyton C. Grinnell provides an update after several Lake County deputies were shot Friday night in Eustis. He said a Lake County deputy has died after he was shot and then became trapped inside a house. Two other deputies were also hurt and taken to the hospital. Sheriff Grinnell said the deputies were ambushed while responding to a disturbance call.

“Today, our entire community is mourning the loss of an incredibly brave Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy, whose life and mission will never be forgotten. Additionally, we are deeply concerned for the two deputies who were critically injured in the ambush. Our hearts are with the families, friends, and colleagues of the deputies affected during this tragic time. We stand united in grief and in our support for the law enforcement community.
