A woman was taken into custody on Friday evening after allegedly crashing her car into a taco restaurant in Canoga Park, causing significant damage.
Bystander video captured the chaotic scene as the car repeatedly reversed and drove forward, smashing through Tacos Reyes’s interior, a restaurant near Saticoy Street and Topanga Canyon Boulevard. The rampage began around 7:30 p.m.
According to police, officers witnessed the woman continuously ramming her car into the building. She had previously been arrested for vandalizing one of the restaurant’s catering trucks.
Working at a nearby bar, Bailey Thompson quickly recognized the potential danger and urged her customers and co-workers to evacuate. “She was just reversing and slamming into all the different walls,” Thompson recalled. “We share a wall with them, so she started slamming into our wall.”
People in the area flagged down police officers who were on patrol. The officers surrounded the woman and used non-lethal rounds to subdue her before taking her into custody.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The incident is currently under investigation.
