Union City, CA – On September 23, 2024, at 3:29 A.M., the Union City Police Department responded to multiple reports of a fully engulfed residence on the 33400 block of 14th Street.
Officers arrived on the scene to find a significant fire. Occupants were able to evacuate the residence, however, unfortunately a 66-year-old male resident was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A male suspect identified as Christopher Shawn Schwenk, 33-year-old from Union City was arrested for this incident. A 57-year-old female was also arrested for this incident, but she was later released. The investigation is ongoing, and the Union City Police Department is committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding this incident.
