Alleged Hate Crime on Subway Caught on Camera

Alleged hate crime on subway caused other passengers to protect the victims.

The 51-year-old victim got into a fight with three ladies on the southbound F train near the West 4th subway station at around 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the NYPD. One of the suspects then allegedly made anti-Asian remarks, pulled the woman by the hair to the floor, and repeatedly punched her in the head, police said.

SFPD concludes virtual town hall for July 26th officer-involved shooting on Catalina Street

The San Francisco Police Department has concluded its virtual town hall on the July 26, 2023, officer-involved shooting incident that occurred between uniformed San Francisco Police officers and 41-year-old Ryant Bluford. On July 26, 2023, at approximately 2:53 P.M. SFPD Officers who were working in plain clothes were arresting a male suspect at Catalina Street and Fairfax Avenue. During the arrest a second male, unrelated to the arrest, approached and engaged these officers. Two uniformed officers arrived in a marked patrol vehicle and contacted the second male, who was armed with what appeared to be a firearm. During the encounter with uniformed officers, an officer-involved shooting occurred. The male who was armed was struck by gunfire. Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene.

The male was transported by medics to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite the lifesaving efforts of emergency responders and medical staff, the male was declared deceased at the hospital.

This incident is being investigated by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office; the San Francisco Police Department Investigative Services Division (ISD); the SFPD Internal Affairs Division (IAD); the Department of Police Accountability (DPA); and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME).

All information is preliminary and could be subject to change. This remains an open and active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. As part of SFPD’s commitment to transparency and accountability, a town hall meeting regarding this officer-involved shooting will be held within ten days.
