CASE UPDATE

EDEN TOWNSHIP INVESTIGATORS MAKE AN ARREST IN CAROLYN STREET HOMICIDE

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, Analleli Garcia Mejia, 36, was arrested in connection with the August 20, 2024, homicide of her ex-boyfriend, 43-year-old David Ramirez. During the investigation, detectives developed information and video evidence showing Garcia Mejia’s actions may have been pre-meditated.

Garcia Mejia was taken into custody and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail. Upon review of the evidence in this case, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office Homicide Team stated they would present the case for charging.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION

16000 BLOCK OF CAROLYN STREET IN UNINCORPORATED SAN LEANDRO

Unincorporated San Leandro, Calif. – On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at approximately 10:17 p.m., deputies from the Eden Township Substation responded to a residence in the 16000 block of Carolyn Street in Unincorporated San Leandro following a reported shooting with two people shot inside the home.

Deputies arrived on the scene within minutes and found the reporting party, a woman in her 30s, with a gunshot wound to her leg. Paramedics transported her to a local hospital for medical treatment. Deputies also discovered an unresponsive male in his 40s inside the residence who had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Deputies administered medical aid to the male subject until emergency medical services arrived and continued lifesaving measures.

Despite their efforts, the male subject did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting was an isolated incident related to a domestic dispute. There is no known threat to public safety. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No further information will be released at this time.
