During the course of their investigation, officers pursued a white Ford Taurus occupied by three juvenile suspects and one adult suspect. All four individuals were taken into custody, and at least one firearm was recovered.

The vehicle, suspect descriptions, and possible motive closely match those connected to the home invasion that occurred on Tidewater Drive in Union City. Our investigators are actively conducting follow-up investigations to determine whether these suspects are linked to our case.

Due to the release of related video footage by our law enforcement partners and the potential connection to our incident, we are sharing this preliminary update. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Original release

Date of Investigation: October 24, 2025

Incident: Attempted Home Invasion Robbery

Location: 30900 Block of Tidewater Drive

On October 24, 2025, at approximately 7:45 a.m., Union City Police Department officers responded to a report involving several armed suspects outside a residence in Union City. The initial report indicated a possible attempted kidnapping; however, responding officers quickly determined the child involved was safe and that no abduction had occurred.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the incident is now believed to have been an attempted home invasion robbery rather than a kidnapping. A juvenile female was outside her residence when she saw the approaching suspects. She ran inside her residence and notified her family to call the police. The suspects fled the area immediately after being confronted by the residents.

The suspects were described as four males wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and face masks. At least two of the suspects were armed with handguns. They were seen leaving the area in a white Ford Taurus.

This incident appears to be unrelated to the attempted kidnapping reported earlier this week, as the circumstances and suspect descriptions are not consistent between the two cases.

The Union City Police Department’s Investigations Unit is investigating this incident. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Detective Bedford at 510-675-5266 or michaelb@unioncity.org.

Media inquiries can be directed to Sergeant Brandon Hayward at 510-714-1694 or brandonh@unioncity.org
