Court documents filed in 5th District Court detail the arrests of Hess-Witucki and Galloway, who allegedly told Iron County deputies they believed the victim’s red pickup truck was stalking them.
Acting on this mistaken assumption, the suspects allegedly pursued the truck after spotting it near their complex.
However, investigators determined that neither the victim nor her passenger had any prior connection to the suspects and were in the area for unrelated reasons. The affidavit also stated there was no evidence to support the suspects’ claims.
At approximately 10:40 p.m., the suspects’ vehicle caught up to the victim’s, and Galloway allegedly fired 12 rounds into the truck. The victim, struck multiple times, lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and came to rest 100 feet away.
During a press conference, Sheriff Carpenter confirmed that a .223-caliber firearm was used in the shooting. Shell casings recovered at the scene matched the ammunition found at the suspects’ residence. Additional firearms seized from the home included:
Two AR-15 platforms
A shotgun
A .308 rifle
A .22 revolver
Deputies say that witness statements and surveillance footage corroborated the series of events leading up to the shooting. The investigation also uncovered attempts by the suspects to obstruct justice, including removing spent shell casings from their vehicle and concealing them in a container at their residence.
The identities of the four suspects arrested in connection to Friday’s drive-by shooting near Enoch have been released.
Booking documents filed by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office identify the suspects as Michael Edward Hess-Witucki, 23, Ethan Andrew Galloway, 23, Aldric Felipe, 21, and Matthew D. Sorber-Petrie, 22.
The documents state that Hess-Witucki drove the vehicle in pursuit of the victims while Galloway was the alleged shooter. They were each booked on one felony count of murder, and 12 counts of felony discharge of a firearm.
