On October 8, 2025, Grove City police shot and killed burglary suspect Dominique Byrdsong after he fired at officers and injured one of them. The incident followed a three-hour barricade situation at a vacant home on Louise Court.

Summary: Officer in stable condition after officer-involved shooting.
Details: On 10-8-2025 at 5:15 pm, Grove City officers were called to 3810 Louise Ct. on a burglary in progress. The homeowner reported seeing a male suspect in the residence with a gun.
Officers arrived, set up containment, and attempted to order the suspect to surrender.
The suspect barricaded himself inside the residence and the Grove City Strategic Response Team (SRT) responded.
At 8:37 pm, the suspect fled from the residence on foot. After a foot pursuit, the suspect fired his weapon at officers, striking a Grove City officer. Grove City officers fired their weapons, striking the suspect.
Both the officer and suspect were transported to the hospital. At this time, the officer is stable and the suspect is deceased. We are not releasing the identities of any involved party at this time.
