The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office in Vero Beach reports that Deputy Terri Sweeting-Mashkow was shot and killed while serving an eviction on Michael Halberstam. The sheriff says that a second deputy and a locksmith were also shot and wounded before another deputy shot Halberstam.
Halberstam’s mother was evicting him and was standing outside the home at the time of the shooting.
Deputies say they had been called to the house seven times before the shooting.
Sheriff Eric Flowers says that Deputy Terri Sweeting-Mashkow had served with the sheriff’s office for 25 years.
