Jason Posada Charged with Allegedly Shooting Washington State Trooper 9 Times

Jason Posada is currently being held in the King County Jail.

Police report that Trooper Raymond Seaburg stopped suspect Jason Posada for suspected DUI and Posada fled on foot.

Trooper Seaburg chased Posada and caught him near the east entrance of the Driftwood Apartment complex, detectives said, which led to a physical struggle between the two.

Seaburg saw Posada display a gun, officials wrote. Detectives said Seaburg pulled out his gun and tried to shoot Posada, but his gun did not fire.

Posada then shot Seaburg five times, the document wrote, stole Seaburg’s gun and shot him again.

On the evening of Fri., Feb. 16, one of our troopers was shot multiple times in the line of duty in Kent, WA. The 21-year veteran assigned out of our Enumclaw detachment was transported to Harborview Medical Center, and we are relieved to say his injuries, while serious, are not life-threatening. He continues to receive care and is surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues.

We are thankful for the outpouring of community support, thoughts, and prayers, and grateful for the people, agencies, and medical providers who helped save our trooper’s life.

The incident is being investigated by the Kent Police Department.
