Reading Police Provide Update on September 13 Homicide Investigation
Reading, PA: The Reading Police Department is releasing the following information related to the Homicide Investigation that occurred on September 13, 2025:
On September 13, 2025, at approximately 06:30 am officers were in the area of Baer Park and observed a male in the brush along River Road. Officers checked on the male and found him to be deceased. The male was later identified as Junior Cabrera-Colon, 12/15/1993. Cabrera-Colon was found to have a gunshot wound to the head.
Reading Police Department was notified that Cabrera-Colon lived with an adult female and a 1-year-old male, neither had been seen or heard from since Friday, September 12, 2025. The female identified as Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo, 11/15/1993, and her son, Jeydon Junior Peguero, were entered as Missing Persons Endangered in the National Crime Database.
Through the course of the investigation Jose Luis Rodriguez, 08/21/1964, of Reading was determined to be a suspect in the homicide of Cabrera-Colon. On Thursday, September 18, 2025, Rodriguez was interviewed by a Reading Police Investigator. He confessed to killing Cabrera-Colon and dumping his body along River Road.
Rodriguez was charged with first degree murder, abuse of a corpse and related crimes. He is currently in Berks County Prison relative to these charges.
In the continuous effort of locating Peguero-Mancebo and Peguero, Reading Police Investigators identified an area to search.
On September 19, 2025 at approximately 08:15 pm Reading Police Investigators responded to the area of East Huller Lane, Ontelaunee Township, and located the body of a deceased female believed to be Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo. Northern Berks Regional Police Department and Berks County District Attorney’s Office County Detectives were contacted and responded to the scene. Berks County District Attorney’s Office County Detectives are handling the investigation related to Peguero-Mancebo and Peguero.
