Two men were caught on surveillance video stealing bags full of electronics from a Best Buy in Spanish Fort on Saturday night.

According to Spanish Fort police, the theft was valued at over $11,000.

Police reported that one suspect appeared to act as a lookout, watching the door and distracting the employees, while the other suspect filled his bag with cameras and other electronics.

“He simply walked out the front door while the other one distracted the employees at the front door,” said Spanish Fort Police Lt. Steven Mooney.

The Spanish Fort Best Buy is not the only store targeted by these suspects. The two men are believed to be connected to over 20 thefts at Best Buy locations nationwide.

“We quickly learned that these two subjects were suspects in numerous other Best Buy thefts using similar tactics,” Mooney said.

Using facial recognition software, police identified one of the suspects as Marcus Ramirez from Brooklyn, New York.

“He’s wanted in several states for similar crimes, including some other offenses,” Mooney said.

Investigators believe Ramirez has stolen at least $120,000 worth of goods himself.

“They’re moving around a lot,” Mooney said. “And there are several other individuals possibly involved.”

Police suspect that these two men are part of a nationally organized retail theft ring responsible for stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

Spanish Fort Police have issued an arrest warrant for Marcus Ramirez on a charge of first-degree organized retail theft.
