Mass Shooting in Birmingham in the 5 Points South District, 26 Shot, 4 Dead

Birmingham Police are working with the FBI and ATF to assist in the investigation.

Police report that four people were killed and at least 21 others injured in a mass shooting on Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama’s 5 Points South Entertainment District. The victims include two men and a woman who were killed near the University of Alabama, with a fourth victim dying later at the university’s hospital.

Birmingham Police are working with the FBI and ATF to assist in the investigation. The shooting occurred just after 11 p.m., according to authorities. Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported eight victims to the hospital, with four of them suffering life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe multiple gunmen were involved in the incident. “Rest assured, we are going to do everything we possibly can to uncover, identify, and hunt down whoever was responsible for preying on our people,” said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
