Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing to assist the Huntington Park Police Department into the circumstances surrounding the death of a male adult.

On Friday April 21, 2023, at approximately 1:53 AM, Huntington Park Police Officers responded to the 5600 block of Pacific Boulevard in the city of Huntington Park regarding a person who was down and not breathing call.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located the victim, a Hispanic male, 60-65 years of age, suffering from blunt force trauma to his upper torso.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Investigators learned the victim was standing outside of a convenience store when he was confronted by the suspect, who began to attack him and push him down to the ground. During the attack, the victim appeared to be kicked and punched by the suspect.

Investigators have identified the sole suspect in the murder as Miguel Angel Zavaleta, a Hispanic male, approximately 29 years old, 5’11”, 220 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Miguel Zavaleta is well known to frequent the Huntington Park Area.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Zavaleta to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

The investigation is ongoing, and currently, there is no additional information.
