The name and condition of the injured Monterey County sheriff's deputy has not been released
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office reports that a deputy was shot at about 9:00 am while answering a call for service at an apartment in Salinas.
Deputies report that the suspect then barricaded himself in the apartment leading to a nine hour standoff and city-wide call for a shelter-in-place.
Sheriff Tina Nieto later reported that the suspect was shot and killed at about 6:00 pm.
