Richard Djerf Executed for the Mass Murder of a Family of Four in Phoenix

In 1993, Djerf sought revenge against a former roommate, Albert Luna Jr., whom he believed had stolen items from his apartment.

The Arizona Department of Corrections reports that Richard Djerf was executed by lethal injection on October 17, 2025, in Florence, Arizona, for the 1993 murders of four members of the Luna family. The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry confirmed that Djerf, age 55, was pronounced dead at 10:40 a.m.

Djerf tortured and murdered the family over a period of several hours.

In 1993, Djerf sought revenge against a former roommate, Albert Luna Jr., whom he believed had stolen items from his apartment. As an act of vengeance, Djerf went to the family’s home in Phoenix and murdered Albert Luna Sr., his wife Patricia, their 18-year-old daughter Rochelle, and their 5-year-old son Damien.
