San Jose Fire Department captain Spencer Parker was charged with alleged attempted lewd acts on a child.
A San Jose Fire Department captain Spencer Parker has been arrested and charged with attempted lewd acts on a child.
A former captain of the San Jose Fire Department, Spencer Parker, is now facing three counts related to alleged attempts to engage in lewd acts with a 13-year-old girl.
San Jose City Manager Jennifer Maguire stated that Parker is “no longer employed” by the city, without specifying whether he was terminated or resigned. He was employed by the city at the time of his arrest.
San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan expressed disgust at the allegations, emphasizing that Parker is no longer associated with the department and that they are cooperating with law enforcement for a thorough investigation and to ensure justice is served.
Philip Cozens, Parker’s attorney based in Sacramento, declined to comment on the charges filed on April 3 in Sacramento County, as the alleged incidents occurred in Folsom at the end of March.
Each of the charges against Parker is a felony. Court documents indicate that he allegedly sent explicit images to a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. The incidents reportedly took place between March 28 and March 30, 2024, according to the felony complaint filed with the Superior Court in Sacramento County.
Parker’s arrest on April 1 precedes a scheduled press conference in Sacramento, where Sheriff Jim Cooper and other law enforcement agencies intend to announce the outcomes of a “large-scale” operation targeting individuals accused of internet crimes against children. The Sheriff’s Office reported over 20 arrests from this operation.
According to the San Jose Fire Department, Parker was promoted to captain in 2021.
