San Jose Police Arrest Jonathan Nunez for Alleged Attempted Murder Near Tully Road

Police say Nunez was also wanted a warrant charging him with alleged felony vandalism.

Jonathan Nunez Arrested in Alleged Highway Encampment Assault, Linked to Church Vandalism

SAN JOSÉ — San José police arrested a man in connection with a violent assault near Highway 101 and a separate felony vandalism at a local place of worship, authorities said.

Officers responded around 10:14 a.m. on Dec. 27, 2025, to reports of a disturbance involving a weapon near Tully Road and Highway 101, adjacent to an encampment by the off-ramp. Police said an adult male suspect struck an adult male victim in the head with a metal pole. The victim was found with life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later stabilized.

Investigators identified the suspect as Jonathan Nunez. Police also determined Nunez was wanted in connection with a felony vandalism that occurred on Dec. 24, 2025, at a place of worship in the 1300 block of East Santa Clara Street. Authorities said the suspect entered a Christmas Eve service and punched a glass window, causing an estimated $20,000 in damage.

On Dec. 28, 2025, patrol officers located Nunez in San José. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges related to attempted murder and vandalism.

On December 27, 2025, at approximately 10:14 AM, Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon in the area of Tully Road and Highway 101, near an encampment adjacent to the highway off-ramp. An adult male suspect struck an adult male victim in the head with a metal pole. Upon arrival, Officers located the victim with life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later stabilized.

Patrol Officers identified the suspect responsible for the incident as Jonathan Nunez. Officers discovered the suspect was also wanted for a felony vandalism that occurred on December 24, 2025, at a place of worship located in the 1300 block of E. Santa Clara Street. The suspect had entered a Christmas Eve service and punched a glass window. The damage was estimated to be over $20,000 dollars.

On December 28, 2025, Patrol Officers located Suspect Nunez in the city of San José. The suspect was later booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for crimes related to attempted murder and vandalism.
