Late Thursday night, two officers from the San Jose Police Department came under fire at the Extended Stay America hotel in San Jose. According to SJPD, the officers were allegedly shot while responding to a “disturbance” at the hotel by wanted fugitive Kevin Briones.
During the incident, one of the officers sustained life-threatening injuries. The shooter, identified as 33-year-old Kevin Briones of San Jose, was also wounded during the exchange of gunfire, which occurred on the hotel’s third floor.
The shootout prompted a swift response from law enforcement, and the situation remained tense until the gunman was subdued. At a news conference held on Friday afternoon, police provided details about the alleged shooter and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
