On May 14, 2025 at approximately 4:31 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a shooting that occurred in an apartment parking lot located in the area of Tosca Court and Tosca Way.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a juvenile male suspect discharged multiple rounds from a firearm towards an adult male victim who was traveling in a vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was struck multiple times, narrowly missing the victim’s head.

Fortunately the victim did not sustain any injuries. Officers learned that the attack was gang-motivated.
The juvenile suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

SJPD Gang Investigations Unit Detectives began an investigation and immediately identified the suspect as a 14-year-old gang member from the city of San José.

On June 15, 2025, the SJPD Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (VCET) located the juvenile suspect in the city of San José. During the contact, the suspect immediately fled on foot and discarded a firearm.

After a brief pursuit, VCET Officers apprehended the juvenile suspect and took him into custody. Officers discovered that the discarded firearm was previously reported stolen out of the city of Reno.

With the assistance of VCET, GIU Detectives conducted a search of the juvenile suspect’s residence where they located various gang indicia.

The juvenile suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and multiple firearm-related crimes.
