The San Jose Police Department has released videos involving a police officer fatally shooting Karim Khan during an exchange of gunfire.
Police say that officers responded to a 911 call from Khan’s family reporting that Khan was mentally ill and being violent with family members.
Police say when officers approached Khan’s apartment, he appeared at the front door armed with a gun causing officers to retreat and seek cover by their patrol cars. Khan then walked to the front yard area and shot at the officers before retreating to the backyard where he exchanged gunfire with an officer. Khan suffered a fatal wound and died at the scene.
