Texas City Police Department Press Release Re: Weston Mabee Arrest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

From: Texas City Police Department, Office of the Chief of Police
On Monday, August 11, 2025, Officer Behler, who is deputized by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, performed law enforcement duties as a Galveston County Crime Reduction Unit Task Force Officer.
At approximately 3 p.m., Officer Behler observed a vehicle displaying a fraudulent license plate enter the parking lot of Ulta, located at 417 FM 517 in Kemah, Texas.
Officer Behler contacted the driver and identified himself as a Task Force Officer with Galveston County. The driver was identified as Weston Mabee. Mabee refused all lawful commands and admitted he purchased the license plate online.
Mabee made repeated attempts to re-enter his vehicle. For officer safety, Officer Behler gave multiple lawful orders for Mabee to complete the investigation in front of the patrol unit.
When escorted to the front of the patrol car, Mabee began physically resisting and struck Officer Behler in the face with a closed fist.
Officer Behler placed Mabee in hand restraints. Mabee continued to be combative with additional responding officers who put him in “The Wrap,” a safe restraint system designed to protect subjects, officers, and staff by reducing the possibility of injury.
The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges against Mabee for Assault on a Public Servant, a 3rd degree felony, with a $100,000 bond.
Mabee was transported and booked into the Galveston County Jail without further incident.
