The sheriff says Cuevas died in custody 15 days after this incident.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has released bodycam videos of deputies using a taser on Mauricio Mateo Cuevas in an ICU hospital room.
Deputies report that Cuevas was acting aggressively and armed himself with scissors and a hypodermic needle containing unspecified medication.
Deputies used a taser on Cuevas and were able to overpower him and handcuff him.
