Warren Police Release Video of Officers Fatally Shooting 18-Year-Old Man

Warren police say, the suspect was transported to an area hospital by the Warren Fire Department wherein he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The Warren Police Department has released videos of officers shooting and killing an 18-year-old man while investigating a family disturbance call.

The suspect’s family called 911 and asked for police because the suspect had not slept for 4 days and was now assaulting family members.

The video shows that when officers arrived on the scene, the suspect exited the house with a gun.

Police say, officers shot the suspect when he pointed the gun at them.

The suspect died from his injuries.

Officer Involved Shooting – Officers investigating domestic violence complaint.

Occurred 04/12/2024 at 01:45 pm; Ryan north of 11 Mile

THERE IS NO THREAT TO THE COMMUNITY

The Warren Police Department would like to provide an initial update regarding an officer-involved shooting that took place today (04/12/2024) at approximately 1:45 pm at a residence in the area of Ryan Rd. north of 11 Mile. A male on scene was shot by Warren Police Officers. This male was transported by the Warren Fire Department to an area hospital wherein he was ultimately pronounced deceased by Hospital staff. No officers were injured and there is no threat to the community.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Warren Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on Garbor Street (Ryan north of 11 Mile) regarding a domestic disturbance. Callers on scene reported that a male was at the residence assaulting family members. Officers arrived on scene to investigate this incident.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a male subject armed with a handgun at which time an officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers immediately performed life-saving measures until the arrival of the Warren Fire Department.

The male was then transported to an area hospital by the Warren Fire Department wherein he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

This is an active and ongoing investigation with detectives and evidence technicians on scene.

Police Commissioner Charles Rushton immediately responded to the scene upon notification of this incident.

An additional press release will be sent out when more information becomes available.
