Police say the carjacker allegedly hit Jonathan Adam Lecompte with the stolen vehicle.

Jonathan Lecompte was killed on March 14, in Lumberton. According to authorities, he was trying to help the victim of a carjacking when he was hit by the carjacker. Some viewers may find this video distrubing, viewer discretion is advised.

1 count – First Degree Murder
2 counts – Attempted Common Law Robbery
1 count – Larceny of Motor Vehicle
1 count – Felony Fleeing to Elude
Currently in the Robeson County Detention Center with no bond.

Lumberton Police Department Press Release Re: Arrest of Ricky Alex Driggers

On Thursday, March 14th, 2024 at 10:29 am Lumberton Emergency Communications was notified of an attempted carjacking that took place on the 4100 block of West 5th Street.

While officers were en route to the initial call additional information was received that the suspect had been involved in a hit-and run in the parking lot of Go Gas at 2605 W 5th Street and was trying to carjack another vehicle on W 5th Street in front of McDonald’s.

Good Samaritans got involved to prevent the carjacking but the suspect was then able to steal the vehicle of one of the good Samaritans. In the process of stealing the vehicle the suspect reportedly intentionally struck one of the good Samaritans with the stolen vehicle.

The male victim who was struck by the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officers arriving on the scene saw the suspect as he was fleeing the scene and pursued the suspect in the stolen vehicle until the suspect wrecked the stolen vehicle on Selma Road near Highway 41.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Ricky Alex Driggers of Odum Road in Lumberton, NC, has been taken into custody.

    this tough old hombre went out doing & being something good with his life, always, regardless of all always. It takes all kinds of courage to stand up and defend other peoples, always. So, there is positivity to what he decided to do & stand for, always. It’s the old Superman move, man.
    This guy whom struck him has an amazing good haircut & hygiene, wow. He looks a bit traumatized from the incident, & remorseful.
    So, ..all peoples stand for something good in their life, always, regardless of all always. This case is an example of how bad it gets when peoples are focused on money, they do crazy things sometimes, the tunnel vision of money as motive makes peoples do crazy things sometimes.
    There might be an afterlife for all always, so don’t lose sight of that fact. ✌️😇❤️🌈📀🔒🔐
