Deputy Involved Shooting Involving Armed Shoplifter Suspect
MIAMI-DADE ( November 06, 2025 )– The Florida Department of Law enforcement is investigating a shooting involving a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) deputy.
According to investigators, at approximately 7:15 a.m. an MDSO deputy was at a supermarket located at SW 211 Street and South Dixie Highway when loss prevention personnel alerted him to a shoplifting in progress. The deputy encountered the subject, and a physical altercation ensued. During the altercation, the subject armed himself, and the deputy discharged his service weapon, striking the subject.
The deputy rendered lifesaving aid until Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported the subject to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The deputy was not injured, and the subject’s firearm was recovered on scene.
The investigation continues.
