Sinaloa’s recent surge in violence has now reached Mazatlán, a major tourist destination on the Mexican Pacific coast, known for its beaches and year-round visitors. On Sunday, gunfire broke out in various parts of the city, causing panic among people enjoying shopping centers and other local businesses.

In response, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum firmly stated in a press conference that her government will not negotiate with criminals.
