San Jose Police Chief Paul Joseph reports that an officer shot and killed Karim Kahn in a shootout in the southern part of the city.
Police say that Kahn was heavily armed with multiple guns and ammunition.
Chief Joseph also said that officers were responding to a call from family members who reported that Kahn was experiencing unspecified mental health issues and became physically aggressive toward his parents while off his normal medication.
