San Jose police released additional details about the events that led to Wednesday’s deadly police pursuit and shootout. Authorities say 30-year-old Muhammed Hussein of Davis allegedly stole a red Corvette on Saturday, Jan. 17, and went on to commit a series of robberies across the region, including in the Bay Area.

The stolen Corvette was later spotted in San Jose, but officers were unable to locate the suspect initially. Police say Hussein then carjacked another Corvette at gunpoint, prompting a pursuit.

The incident ended in downtown San Jose after a 45-mile chase involving multiple carjackings, when the suspect was fatally shot by police.
