Swedish police report that a female police officer shot an alleged arson suspect in the leg.
Dramatic footage shows a Stockholm officer ordering a knife- and crowbar-wielding arson suspect to “drop the weapons!” before firing a warning shot that struck the man in the leg. The suspect, accused of setting fire to two apartments during an eviction, was hospitalized; three others were treated for smoke inhalation.
According to Swedish police, two apartments in Fisksätra in Nacka (Sweden) caught fire. A suspected asonist armed with a crowbar and knife was shot in the leg by police. Three people were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
At 9.30am on Tuesday, the police and the fire service were called to a fire in an apartment in Fisksätra in Nacka.
We received indications relatively early on that the first fire was arson and a short while later we received information that another apartment in a different gate in the same area was on fire. We then opened a preliminary investigation into suspected arson, says Anna Westberg, the police’s press spokesperson in the Stockholm region.

It is a man who was armed with a knife and the police have had to fire their service weapon. The situation became such that they made the assessment that had to stop him.
The man was shot in the leg and was taken by ambulance to hospital.
According to the police, the Swedish Enforcement Authority was at the scene before the fires broke out.
– I can’t say anything about what it was about, says Anna Westberg.

Initially, the police and the fire service announced that no other people were injured, but at 10:30 the announcement was changed to three people with smoke inhalation taken to hospital.
Shortly after 11:00 the fires were extinguished and there is no risk of spreading, according to the police.
The police are now investigating aggravated arson, attempted aggravated violence against an official and aggravated threat against an official.
