What comes next after the gunman was subdued in the Fort Stewart, Georgia, army base shooting?

An active-duty Army sergeant opened fire on five fellow soldiers with a personal handgun Wednesday morning at Fort Stewart, a U.S. Army base in southern Georgia, officials confirmed.
The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Sgt. Quornelius Radford, an automated logistics sergeant assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
Scripps News spoke with Chris Swecker, a former FBI assistant director and current attorney in North Carolina, about what to expect next in the legal process.
“Since he’s in custody, he’ll have an initial appearance before a judge. A bond may or may not be set—though that’s unlikely,” Swecker explained. “This is the military justice system, so he probably won’t be released. It operates very differently from the civilian legal system.”
