The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation now believes former McNairy County Sheriff Pusser, the lawman who inspired the film Walking Tall, was responsible for his wife’s death 57 years ago.

Officials announced that investigators concluded Pusser killed Pauline Mullins Pusser and staged the crime scene. Pauline was shot and killed in 1967 in what had long been described as an ambush targeting the sheriff.
